I loved this post thankyou! I too (although not as much lately) write little notes and keep a journal. The Mary/Martha comment is something that comes up a lot lately. I do find it hard to sit with Jesus and instead keep busy. I also am overwhelmed with my circumstances and all I need to work on. Sometimes I think God isn't speaking to me at all but I can be unsure if the thoughts come from me or Him. Keeping the journal in the past was good as it was like a puzzle that all comes together. Pray that I can start to keep notes again.
I am hearing you loud and clear. There's always so much going on in our own minds, it's hard to hear God with all the noise. That's exactly why I keep something I can write down the thoughts and pieces He places before me. That's when I begin to see the same theme and know He is getting through to me the best way He can with this train track brain of mine lol
This post spoke to me as I constantly get "nudges" from God. As I was reading, I smiled and remembered a time that, while at the gym and on the treadmill, I was nudged and kept getting nudged strongly about the subject of Hope. As I continued my workout, phrases and words were popping into my head and I had nothing to write down these words. As a result, I had to leave my work out early and hurry home as the feeling was so overwhelming, I couldn't concentrate on the gym and all my energy was into trying to remember what He was telling me and feeling Him nudge me saying, "this is important. You need to leave." I am part of a Women's Ministry at my church, and each month, I do a newsletter on a different topic that God places on my heart. For that month, Hope was placed on my heart. I've realized God will nudge you at anytime, anywhere, and at any moment, even when you're working out. As I left the gym and returned home, the newsletter was written within a 1/2 hour as I felt led by Him and was obedient to his "nudge."
Thank you so much for this post as I was reading it and smiling remembering the above event.
Yes 🙌 that’s exactly why I always have my notes app ready to go lol some of my greatest pieces have been written in my car in the parking lot. When God speaks, He really speaks ❤️❤️❤️ thank you for sharing your story xx
"Sometimes, we can feel so overwhelmed in the natural with all the areas we need to work on. The noise from it all becomes overwhelming. But if we just stop long enough, we can see the theme, we can see what God is asking us to focus on."
Thank you for articulating so clearly what I feel so overwhelmingly at times. I like your ideas for recording those thoughts I use notebooks, notes, the Word app, scraps of paper and so many other methods. I'm trying to finish a rough draft and I have things written everywhere so I'm working at organizing all my files and typing out all the handwritten ones. It makes me want to rethink my habits!
I’m so glad this post spoke to you ❤️ yes, I scribble down everything even in the car, the shopping centre, waiting for my eldest to finish work, cooking dinner… it’s amazing what becomes clear when you go back over your notes. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for your wise loving words of encouragement.
Blessings ❤️❤️❤️
