In our journey of faith, we often find ourselves facing moments when we can't see the outcome. For me, there are days I’m so frustrated, because I want a map or blueprint about my next steps. If I’m walking through a hard season, I want to know how much longer I have to walk it before the rest period comes. There are times when life situations challenge our faith and hinder our ability to trust in God's plan. Oh, but how good is our Lord? Because He reminds me that as Christians, we are called to rise above our doubts and uncertainties, and trust the process that He has set in motion for our lives. If you’re anything like me, I want to feel a certain control over situations. I like to know that I have it all in hand. But… truth is, we really don’t have control at all over what the day holds and it’s why we need to just trust that God has it all in His control.
In this post I want to bring home the importance of trusting God, even when we cannot see the outcome, and how this act of faith strengthens our relationship with Him.
As believers, we find solace in the unwavering faithfulness of our Heavenly Father. Throughout the Bible, God has consistently proved Himself faithful to His people. From Abraham and Moses to David and the apostles, we encounter stories of individuals who trusted in God's process, even when it seemed impossible. In Hebrews 11:1, it says, "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." This verse reminds us that faith requires us to believe in God's promises and trust in His process, even in the face of uncertainty.
Often, the journey of trusting in God's process involves waiting patiently for Him to act according to His perfect timing. Waiting can be challenging; it may test our patience, stir up doubts, or make us question God's plan. However, it is during these waiting periods that God molds our character, strengthens our faith, and teaches us valuable lessons. The Apostle Paul encourages us in Romans 8:25, saying, "But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience." When we choose to trust the process, even in the waiting, we open ourselves up to receive a deeper understanding of God's ways.
Trusting the process requires us to surrender to God's sovereignty. As Christians, we believe that God is in control of every detail of our lives. Proverbs 3:5-6 advises, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Through this acknowledgment, we acknowledge that God's ways are higher than ours, and His plans are ultimately for our good, even when we can't comprehend them fully.
While trusting the process may involve uncertainties and moments of doubt, we are called to maintain an attitude of gratitude throughout our journey. Recognizing the goodness of God in the midst of challenges helps shift our perspective. Psalm 16:11 assures us that in God's presence, there is fullness of joy. Realising the abundant blessings we have received and holding onto the hope of future blessings enables us to trust the process and embrace God's plan for our lives.
Trusting the process requires us to have faith that surpasses our human limitations. As Christians, we are privileged to have a personal relationship with a God who is unchanging, sovereign, and faithful. In moments when we can't see the outcome, trusting in God's process reaffirms our belief in His perfect wisdom and control. May we be inspired to embrace faith, patiently wait, and continuously trust God's plan, even when we cannot see the outcome, remembering that He is always working for our good.
