I want to sit with you all a moment and share some things that bring me joy. Often when you’ve been walking to through a wilderness, it’s really hard to capture hold of those small things that can light you up or bring you comfort. So I want to share these precious things of mine with you.
My Pink socks that should have been chucked out years ago. Every birthday, Mother’s Day and Christmas my boys buy me socks. They know I’m always cold and socks make me feel… safe. But these pink hole filled babies ARE my go to pair. I will search high and low for them and if I can’t find them… we’ll, I get a little stressed lol
My water bottle is my best friend. If I’m lying on the couch or ready to dive into bed, that little bladder, with it’s cover is ready to go and keep me warm. You probably think, it’s only reserved for winter right? Nope… it will sit with me even if the aircon is blasting.
Flowers are my love language. Yep, every week my husband or one of my boys buy me flowers. They know that no matter what, those precious buds will spread a smile clear across my face and I Feel… like the luckiest woman in the world.
The sound of quiet. That may sound like a strange thing to bring me joy, but there was a time where I wondered if I would ever be able to sit in the peace and silence without panicking. That story is a long one and one day I will talk about it. But those quiet moments, where I sit outside as the sun comes up and talk with my Heavenly Father are more precious than I could ever describe, even with words.
Why am I sharing this? Because I have learned many lessons from the Lord, this past wilderness season that seemed to drag on and on, stripping me of more than I ever expected. But what went through the refining fire, came out stronger with a God centred focus. And in it, He showed me the joy of the small. To give him my big problems and see the little precious things that gave me a calm, a still, a moment of appreciation. Often times we can overlook them. But when we stop and really look at them… it’s a blessing.
This week, I pray you that throughout your day, you find three things that bring you joy and speak them out. Life has a way of changing you when they are the things you focus on before the troubles.
Thank you for journeying with me. I know I say this at the end of almost every post, but I truly mean it. I feel so blessed every time I am prompted to write and share a piece of myself. I pray this encouraged you today. Type in the comments one thing that brings you joy. I would love to know!
Love Sarah, x.
