Have you ever felt like you were standing in a crowded room, but no one seemed to notice you? Like you could slip out the door, and it wouldn’t make a difference? It’s a lonely place to be—feeling unseen, unheard, and unimportant. I think there are times in everyone’s lives where they feel a moment of invisibility. For some of us, it’s just a fleeting season. For others, it can feel like a lifetime.
I know because it’s how I’ve felt most of my life. Not all the time, but often enough that it’s left its mark. There were moments I felt forgotten—like if I didn’t make an effort to remind people I was still there, I’d simply fade into the background. And then there were the even harder moments, the ones that cut deep. When the only time I heard from people was when they needed something.
It stings, doesn’t it? To feel like your presence is only valued when you’re being useful to someone else?
Walking through those hard times, weathering storms utterly alone, left me wondering if even God saw me. Those were some of the lowest points in my life.
