Lessons in the brokenness…

There are seasons when I cry out to God and say, “I can’t. Please!” Truth is, I never understand God’s plan for me or why the trials are so many until many seasons pass.

Abuse, verbal and physical left their scars but brought me a strength I didn’t know I had. It taught me to treat others with kindness because that’s what we deserve.

Grief almost broke me but it showed me that life is precious and memories can be treasured.

Broken friendships taught me how I should be treated and accepted.

Unbearable pain showed me that it’s okay to slow down and cry with the Lord.

Multiple IVF runs, child of divorce, trials in marriage, mental health and I could keep building that list. All of it built my story of what God could walk me through.

But my biggest lessons were this. Compassion and understanding, empathy and the power of testimony. There’s nothing like being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. I get to sit and empathise with those that God puts before me and say, I get it! I really do. What do you need from me? Prayer? A hug? Someone to just sit with you in silence?

But here’s the blessing in all the trials… No matter what’s going on, God is there… always there. He will listen 24/7. He will send people your way. He will speak through His word. And He will comfort you in your tears.
