I share from a place many don’t want to talk about. I dive into the pain that even a follower of Christ comes face to face with and may feel scared or ashamed to open up about. I will go to the depths of my experiences and recall the feelings and emotions that arose from the battles. My tests and testimonies are many and deep filled with heartache and trauma.
That’s my strength. The strength God gave me to encourage others and pour out empathy and understanding, many would struggle with. But that doesn’t mean I don’t experience great Joy and gratitude.
You see, God has taught me to capture the day and find the amazing things, even the small things it may hold. When I wake in the morning, the first thing I do as I sit on the edge of the bed, is give thanks for three things in my life. Then I ask the Lord to lead my steps and then I tell myself that today will be great no matter what may arise.
I learned to take control and lead my emotions and not let them lead me. I began to focus on things that bring me joy.
The way my boys always give me a kiss and wave all the way to their bus when I drop them off in the morning.
My first coffee of the day as I read a Psalm.
How my chickens and their personalities make me want to watch them walk around all day.
When I thank God as I fall asleep for another day with breath in my lungs.
We may spend a lifetime carrying a cross or piled high with affliction, but don’t let it take away your joy. Find it in the small things. It may just be one thing a day to begin with, then make it two and then three. Before you know it, Joy will fill your days.
Love Sarah, xx.
‘weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.’ -Psalm 30:5
