In our fast-paced, always-on world, it’s so easy to feel like we’re constantly running on empty. We try to juggle it all, chasing validation, striving for success, and hoping that somehow the next accomplishment will fill the emptiness. But even after all that effort, something often still feels off, like we’re missing the heartbeat of what really matters.
This year, I decided it was time to slow down and dig deeper—to find a rhythm that doesn’t leave me feeling drained but instead brings me closer to the heart of Jesus. I wanted to understand how He balanced everything with such purpose and peace, how He kept a pace that let Him live fully connected to God and others. Along that journey, I felt inspired to create a five-day devotional called In the Rhythm of Jesus, designed to help you experience that same peace and purpose and for it to be a starting point.
And now, the latest devotional is here, and I'm so excited to share these musings with you! My hope is that it’ll bless you and encourage you as you seek to walk closer with Him, one intentional day at a time.
This devotional isn’t about doing more; it’s about rediscovering the practices that Jesus modelled. Here’s a glimpse of what each day offers:
1. Rest – We start with the often-overlooked practice of rest. Jesus didn’t run on empty; He took time to pause and recharge. In my own life, I realized how exhausting it was to keep up with never-ending to-do lists. This devotional invites you to step back and find those quiet moments to connect with God.
2. Prayer – Next, we explore the intimacy of prayer. Jesus modeled a life of constant communion with the Father, not just in secluded moments but in the everyday tasks. As a young mother, I struggled with finding time for quiet prayer. But God showed me that prayer could weave throughout my day, whether I was folding laundry or making dinner.
3. Love for the Father – Jesus’s love for God was evident in every conversation, every act of kindness, and every miracle. This devotional encourages us to cultivate that love and bring it into our relationships and interactions.
4. Compassion – Jesus saw people’s needs and met them with love and empathy, like His beautiful interaction with the woman at the well. This day calls us to see others through His eyes, offering grace instead of judgment and love without conditions.
5. Humility and Service – Finally, we reflect on the beauty of serving without seeking recognition. I used to crave acknowledgment, hoping to be seen. But Jesus shows us a better way—serving with humility and peace, knowing that our worth is already found in God.
This short devotional was written from a place deep of love, longing and desire to help others find peace and purpose in Christ’s example. My prayer is that you come away with a fresh sense of God’s rhythm and an openness to let Him guide your steps. So, are you ready to slow down, refocus, and find joy in the rhythms of Jesus?
