Have you ever felt like you don’t have much to offer? I know I have. We often find ourselves caught in the comparison trap, thinking of all the ways we could contribute to the kingdom—through our time, talents, or resources. We may look at the grand gestures others make and feel like what we have to give is simply too small. But oh lovely, sometimes our small is far bigger and more valuable than we can imagine.
Take the story of the widow with the oil, for instance. In 2 Kings 4:1-7, we meet a woman whose husband had died, leaving her in a desperate situation. She had nothing but a small jar of olive oil. But when she obediently poured out what little she had, God multiplied it, providing not only for her needs but for her family’s future as well. That small offering transformed her life.
This woman… has my heart.
Sometimes, we overlook the significance of our own small offerings. For me, all I could offer were heart words—those intimate reflections where God was always the hero of my story, even in the messy parts. I’ve used those words to write blogs, social posts, letters to strangers, and texts to friends. Each word, no matter how small it seemed, carried the potential to touch a life.
When I willingly offered my small to God, trusting Him to do with it what He pleased, I began to see how my little could become big in someone’s life, some way, somewhere. It’s not about the quantity of what we offer but the heart behind it. God cares more about our willingness to give than the size of the offering itself.
So, the next time you find yourself doubting the impact of your contributions, remember the widow with her jar of oil. Your small offering, however insignificant it may seem, can be used by God to create ripples of blessing that extend far beyond what you can see. Trust Him with your small. He delights in turning it into something beautiful.
Let’s embrace the beauty of small offerings, knowing that God can take our simple, heartfelt contributions and multiply them for His glory. You never know whose life might be changed because you chose to give what you have, no matter how little it may seem.
Love Sarah, xx.
