My life hasn’t been easy. It’s always felt like I would just get over one hurdle, catch my breath, only to be thrown into the next.
I kept thinking that if I just got over the next obstacle, then peace would come, pain would stop, brokenness repaired, finances sorted… just one more mountain… and all would be right in my world. Right?
But see, God doesn’t work that way. He whispered to me something profound this year as I cried on my knees, begging for reprieve.
“Your ministry is found where you have been broken. But your testimony is found where you have been restored.”
Through all my experiences, God was weaving stories I could share with others, to lift them into the arms of the One that loves them the most. I was sharing the pain of a journey and the One who held me, guided me and never left me throughout each one.
You see, your trial will allow you to be witness to God’s goodness. And like I have said time and time again… Your life is your ministry. And I often think of Paul as I walk out this earthly journey. He was beaten, arrested, shipwrecked, bitten by a snake… and yet, through it all, he found joy in his suffering. He knew his life and trials were the cross he had to bear in order to share the greatest message of all. That Jesus is the way to the father. That Jesus is there to save all those who receive him from eternal death.
I admire Paul’s strength to keep going. I understand his pain, his exhaustion, his constant battle within himself and like Paul, I choose to find joy. I choose to keep my eyes on the Heavenly Father and know that every trial will bring glory to God and how He walked me through each and every obstacle, mountain and valley I came up against.
Don’t run from your ministry… we all have one. Instead walk through every trial with your head up and know that the Lord is walking with you in each one, step by step, for you to shine a light to those that need to see and meet Him.
