Dear Sarah, you talk so openly about your flaws and how God has navigated you through your trauma and brokenness. Here's the thing, I too am from Victoria and went through the same long, life altering covid lockdowns as you. Because like you I chose not to get the vaccine I was locked out of society with my entire family. But even years after I'm still struggling with moving on. Do you have any advice? - Reader
Dear Reader,
Thank you so much for your heartfelt letter. Your words resonate so deeply with me, and I feel your struggle and hear your pain. It's not easy to navigate the aftermath of such a tumultuous time, especially when it feels like the world around us has shifted so drastically. I want to offer you some encouragement and truth from my own journey.
First, let me be honest with you: I still struggle sometimes too. There's a part of me that wonders if something else is on the horizon that could send us back into another cycle of uncertainty and restriction. That uncertainty can be overwhelming, but it has also been a catalyst for growth and learning in my life.
The extended lockdowns and societal changes here in Victoria, Australia were a wake-up call in many ways. I discovered the resilience of our immune systems, the incredible benefits of natural medicine, and the rewarding experience of growing my own food. These lessons have been invaluable, helping me to regain a sense of normalcy and control over my life.
It took over a year after the continuous lockdowns, police checks, and restrictions just to start feeling normal again. But in that process, God revealed something crucial to me: He is in control. None of what happened was outside His knowledge or plan. I've learned to trust Him deeply, knowing that He places His children exactly where they need to be, even in times of hardship.
I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to feel like you’re still struggling to move on. Healing takes time, and every person's journey is unique. The most important thing is to keep trusting God. He knows what you’ve been through and is with you every step of the way. Lean into His sovereignty and let His peace fill your heart.
Remember, you are not alone. Surround yourself with a supportive community, share your experiences, and seek comfort in knowing that others understand what you’re going through. Spend time in prayer and scripture, seeking God’s guidance and comfort. He promises to be with us and to provide for our needs, even in the most challenging times.
Embrace the lessons learned during those difficult times. Celebrate the small victories and progress you make each day, no matter how minor they seem. Trust in God’s plan and timing, knowing that He is always working for your good.
You are deeply loved and valued by God. He will carry you through this season, just as He has done before. Keep holding on to His promises, and know that brighter days are ahead.
With love and prayers,
Sarah x.
Thanks so much for sharing this. And thank you to the person who asked the question. I’m from Victoria too, and I felt like this post was just what I needed right now. :)
Thank you for such an inspiring post! Going through some emotional and physical experiences during and after Covid restrictions really affected me negatively. But GOD...! He is in control! Some of us had to go through the dark tunnel, and turn the corner, to see the Light at the other end!
