It’s such a familiar story—the woman at the well. She went there at noon, alone, likely hoping to avoid the judgmental eyes of others. Life had left her feeling broken, used up, and empty. Perhaps she felt like all her choices had caught up to her, sealing her fate as unworthy in the eyes of her community. All she wanted that day was water to carry back to her home. But God had something else in mind.
We don’t even know her name. All we’re given are pieces of her life—pieces that marked her as an outcast. And I love the intention in that. Because she represents all of us. Her story becomes a mirror for anyone who has felt unseen, ashamed, or stuck in a cycle they can’t escape.
She came for water. He came for her.
In this woman, Jesus saw not her mistakes or her failures but a heart thirsty for more than she could find in the world. He knew every part of her—the pain she carried, the scars from broken relationships, the quiet desperation for something real and lasting. And He didn’t condemn her. Instead, He offered her living water, a promise of life that could heal every wound and satisfy her soul beyond what she ever dreamed possible.
What a moment that must have been, to be seen and known so completely. Jesus met her with tenderness, respect, and dignity that no one else had given her. And in that holy exchange, He showed us the depths of His love—a love that seeks us out even when we feel unworthy, a love that draws near despite the weight of our past, a love that offers to fill every broken place with hope and healing.
Maybe you’ve come, like her, carrying emptiness or shame, believing that what you’re hoping for is out of reach. But Jesus has a way of showing up right in those quiet, deserted places. He meets us where we are, not to condemn but to invite us to something more.
“Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.” -John 4:14
We come for what we think we need, but He comes to show us what only He can give. The love we’re searching for, the healing we long for, the acceptance we crave—it’s all in Him.
So let Him meet you at your well. He already knows your name. He knows the pieces of your story that you’d rather leave hidden. And still, He comes—offering life that never runs dry. There, in the quiet, He’s waiting to show you what it means to be truly seen, known, and loved.

"We come for what we think we need, but He comes to show us what only He can give." I love this line. This truth! A pertinent reminder that, even with the best of intentions, we often come seeking something that we don't truly need- or perhaps we just need the elevated, eternal form of it. With an open heart, we're able to receive the gift that never runs dry!
How true that is, I was once the woman at the well, and I could give Him my broken pieces, pieces of my life that nobody could put together but He did that with Love and He took my feet from the miry clay and put it on the Rock. Thank you Jesus Coram Deo
